We Finally Have A Report From The Top Border Agent In San Diego. This Is What He Has To Say

A top U.S. Border Patrol agent is speaking out about the current situation as migrants are trying to enter the country from Mexico. Chief Patrol Agent Rodney Scott addressed the situation during a recent CNN interview, noting that women and children were being used as human shields while aggressive migrants hurled rocks and other debris at those officers who guarded a fence.

Scott explained: “Several agents were actually struck by rocks,” adding, “What we saw over and over yesterday was that the group – the caravan, as we call them – would push women and children to the front, and then begin, basically, rocking our agents.”

Several vehicles and three Border Patrol agents were struck, with agents responding by shooting rubber bullets and using canisters of tear gas.

Scott noted: “And once our agents were assaulted and the numbers started growing – you know we had two or three agents at a time facing hundreds of people at a time – they deployed tear gas to protect themselves and protect the border.”

Further, National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd discussed the situation with Fox News, explaining: “The way these people rushed the border was absolutely monstrous.”

Judd continued: “They pushed women and children up front. And then behind those women and children, they started throwing rocks, cement bricks, they started throwing bottles at our Border Patrol agents.”

The growing concern over this behavior was reiterated by Carla Provost, the chief of U.S. Border Patrol, who told Fox News that the migrants “were throwing rocks and bottles at my men and women, putting them in harm’s way as well as other members of the caravan.”

Scott noted that dozens of the group of hundreds of caravan migrants that stormed border fences on Sunday made it through. He explained: “What I saw on the border yesterday was not people walking up to Border Patrol agents and asking to claim asylum…They were chanting, waving a Honduran flag, and throwing rocks at the agents.”

“If they were truly asylum seekers, they would have just walked up with their hands up and surrendered. And that did not take place,” Scott added.

Agents arrested 42 border-jumpers.

During a rally in Tupelo, Mississippi, President Trump talked about his administration’s stance on dealing with migrants who harm border guards, noting: “We will not tolerate any form of assault or attack upon our border agents, like happened yesterday or any attempt to destroy federal property, overrun federal authorities or bring chaos and violence to American soil.”

He continued: “And if you look at what’s happening along the border, you see what’s happening. The mayor of Tijuana, he said, these are tough people. These people fight when you talk to them. These are tough people.”

Earlier this week, Trump tweeted about the border situation, noting: “Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!”
